GR - Citrix - Getting a New Session

Issue

You are experiencing performance issues or slowness within Citrix.

Synopsis

Getting a new Citrix Session can help to alleviate many issues that one may encounter while working inside of Citrix. Getting a new session is the Citrix Equivalent of “turning it off and on again” and as such, should be used as one of the first things to try when troubleshooting a Citrix Related Issue.

Resolution

Using the Citrix Activity Manager, you can disconnect your session.

Opening Citrix Activity Manager

1. Look to the top right of the Citrix Workspace App, next to your Profile Picutre/Initials.

2. Select the icon with 3 Squares and a Gear to open the Citrix Activity Manager.

Using the Activity Manager to get a new session

The Activity Manager can be used to disconnect from a currently active Citrix Session. This can help to resolve issues with stuck applications, missing settings, and other issues.

WARNING: When logging out from a Citrix Session, all unsaved work in Citrix will be lost. Make sure to save all work inside of Citrix before doing this!

1. Select the three-dots in the activity manager to open a menu.

3. Wait while Citrix logs you out. You know when it is done when you see the message "You don't have any desktops or apps running".

At this point, your session has been fully reset, and you can try re-opening your apps.
